What is UGC-style advertising?
Last updated
UGC-style advertising uses the direct, conversational feel of content people watch in their feed. It is a production style, not proof that an ad was made by an independent customer.

Is UGC-style the same as a customer review?
No. User-generated content comes from users, while a brand can commission an ad that uses a similar presentation. A creator speaking to camera, a casual product demonstration or a simple voiceover can all be part of that style.
Do not invent personal experiences or present a scripted endorsement as an independent review. Use real, approved experiences when making testimonial claims and check the advertising rules that apply to the campaign.
What makes the format useful?
A conversational opening can introduce a familiar problem quickly. Showing the product in context can then explain what it does without a formal presentation. Captions and straightforward editing help the message stay understandable.
That does not guarantee better results than a polished product ad. The audience, product, message and execution still matter. Treat the format as something to test, not a shortcut to trust.
What belongs in a UGC-style brief?
Give the creator or studio the problem, approved benefit and intended next step. Leave room for natural language while keeping product facts and required disclosures precise.
- A clear opening question or situation.
- The product detail or demonstration that supports the message.
- Approved claims and things the ad must not imply.
- Usage permissions, disclosures and required placement versions.
